The Chuppah (Wedding Canopy)

In Talmudic times, the bride's family erected a specially decorated tent, the chuppah, in their courtyard. After the wedding, the newlyweds feasted there for seven days.

Our wedding will take place under a chuppah, a canopy symbolic of our first home, open on all four sides as our home will be open to friends, family and those in need. The chuppah's presence also symbolizes the shekhinah, God's indwelling presence.

Kiddush Cup

The special cup used for the wine used today was given to Russ at his Bar Mitzvah. To us it symbolizes that we bring our heritage with us as we create a new life together.

Ketubah

The Ketubah

According to Jewish tradition, witnesses draw an agreement, the Ketubah, by which the bride and groom commit themselves in marriage. Our Ketuba signifies our commitment to each other and our vow to love and respect each other forever.

Excerpt from our Ketubah

"As we share life's everyday expreiences, we promise to strive for an intimacy that will enable us to express our innermost thoughts and feelings, to be sensitive at all times to each other's needs; to share life's joys and to comfort each other through life's sorrows; to challenge each other to achieve intellectual and physical fulfillment as well as spiritual and emotional tranquility."
